Community Guidelines: About Spam
Spam is generally defined on Periscope as bulk, aggressive, or deceptive activity that attempts to manipulate or disrupt Periscope or the experience of users on Periscope.
The following behaviors are against our spam Guidelines:
- Artificial inflation
- Artificially inflating engagement on your own or others’ accounts or broadcasts (followers, views, hearts, and/or chat messages).
- Selling or purchasing followers or engagements (views, hearts, and/or chat messages).
- Using or promoting apps or services which claim to offer any of the above.
- Account transfers
- Selling, purchasing, or transferring Periscope accounts or usernames.
- Aggressively directing traffic externally
- Engaging in bulk or aggressive chat or broadcast activity intended to drive traffic or attention to unrelated accounts, products, services or initiatives. Examples of this behavior include, but are not limited to:
- creating only looping/static broadcasts for the purpose of directing users to links in a title or the broadcaster’s profile information;
- sending repetitive chat messages that direct users away from a broadcast.
- Posting misleading, deceptive, or malicious links anywhere on our service (for example: display name, profile information, broadcast titles, chat messages).
- Duplication
- Creating multiple accounts for the same purpose or overlapping use cases, such as identical or similar personas or substantially similar content.
- Sending duplicative chat messages (within the same broadcast or across multiple broadcasts), particularly via automation.
- Repeatedly streaming duplicate broadcasts, including deleting and restreaming identical content.
- Operating an account for the sole purpose of restreaming others’ broadcasts, or repeatedly restreaming another user’s broadcasts.
- Aggressive following
- Following and/or unfollowing a large number of unrelated accounts in a short time period, particularly by automated means.
- Following and unfollowing same user repeatedly.
- Clickbait
- Posting misleading titles that do not correspond to the substance of the broadcast.
Please note that your Periscope account may also be permanently suspended if your Twitter account is suspended for violating the Twitter Rules pertaining to spam.
